CHEEKY TIKI BRAMBLE - Recipe

Utilise your scrumping bounty with this perfect twist on a gin classic.

A twist on a classic. Juicy rich blackberry flavours lifted by floral agricole rum and a touch of citrus lemon.

As July roles into August the UK countryside is awash with fresh, delicious blackberries. They are the perfect excuse to exercise some traditional scrumping activities.

These versatile black bubbles are full of flavour, each a different balance of sweet and sour. Most would put these into a pie but I find it far more fitting to add them to the classic Bramble.

This is traditionally a "GIN" cocktail but when replaced with a floral agricole rum you can still get a lovely balance between rich berry and sour citrus notes on a bed of delicious rum. I have used Ninefold as it's a delicious British rum to go perfectly with my locally scrumped blackberries.

So head out into the sun, pick some berries and try this cocktail with your scrumping bounty.

Serves: 1

Ingredients

4x Blackberries

1/2 Lemon

50ml Rum Agricole

25ml Chambord

Ice (cubed and crushed)

Equipment Needed

Cocktail shaker

Knife & Board

Short Tiki Glass

Method

  1. Firstly get your tiki glass and fill it with crushed ice to get it nice and chilled.

  2. Into the cocktail shaker, pop in your blackberries, lemon juice, simple syrup and rum.

  3. Fill the shaker with cubed ice and give it a good vigours shake to mush the blackberries and get those juices out.

  4. Removed any melted ice from the tiki glass and strain your cocktail in, then top up with more crushed ice to create a nice "flavour mountain".

  5. Finally pour your Chambord down you flavour mountain and garnish with some blackberries.

Best enjoyed out in a summer garden
