DARK CHERRY DAIQUIRI - Recipe

Indulge in this seasonal Daiquiri delight

Cherries are only with us for a short season between June and July, the time is now! This little red devil pairs well with caramel, chocolate, cinnamon, citrus and vanilla. So get this cocktail down you while they are at their best. This cocktail was a hit in the bars during the early 20s when Sailor Jerry's was at its epic height of popularity.

Enjoy this rich pairing of sweet, slightly aged rum and seasonal dark cherries. Combining sweet vanilla spiced rum and demerara sugar for a rich, fruity twist on the classic Daiquiri.

Serves: 1

Ingredients

50ml Sailor Jerrys Spiced Rum (other Spiced Rums work too)

6x Black Cherries

1/2 Lime

2x barspoons (tsp) Demerara Sugar

Ice

Equipment Needed

Muddler

Cocktail shaker

Knife & Board

Method

  1. Add the cherries, sugar and lime (squeeze first) into a cocktail shaker and muddle vigorously. Ensure the peel of the lime is crushed against the sugar granules and the cherries have been mushed from their seeds for maximum flavour.

  2. Add the Spiced Rum to the shaker and fill up with cubed ice.

  3. shake vigorously for 10 seconds and fine strain into either a martini glass or over ice in a rocks glass.

et Avoila! Your seasonal blast from the past awaits.
