FOOTBALL TROPICAL RUM PUNCH - Recipe

Step aside beer and bring home this bulk fruity cocktail for group gatherings.

So football's coming home after all these years!?! Regardless of belief, you won’t be watching it in the pubs with more than 6 people.

How about outdoor hosting? Beers from the fridge don’t match draft in the pub. Besides who has that much space in the fridge anyway? This is an alternative to beer cocktail for hosting the football.

What you need is a delicious, quick cocktail you can make in bulk and top up at half time. Something that can quench the thirst of many...

Say hello to the Football Tropical Rum Punch.

The key pre-prep trick is sorting your ice before hand. I hope you like takeaways.

All you need to do is fill two old (clean) takeaway containers halfway with water, put the lid on and bang in the freezer upright over night.

In addition you need a big vessel over 5 Litres. Could use a clean mop bucket if desperate. That’s all you need prep wise.

Serves: 20-30 drinks

Ingredients

1 (or 2) bottles of rum. I’ve gone for a white and a spiced.

4x Whole limes

150ml Sugar Syrup

1x carton of Pineapple Juice

1x carton of Orange Juice

1x carton any Red Fruit Juice (except tomato)

2x Takeaway tub Ice blocks

Cubed ice

Water to top up

Equipment Needed

Large Kilner Jar (or other large vessel to house the cocktail)

Mexican Elbow

Knife & Board

Ladle

Method

  1. Pour the rum(s), syrup and all the juices into the Kilner Jar.

  2. Slice the limes in half horizontally and squeeze them into the Kilner, then add 4x halves of the skins.

  3. Take one of the takeaway tubs and run under the warm tap upside down until the ice falls away. Add into the Kilner along with 2 handfuls of cubed ice.

  4. Top up the punch with water and stir with the ladle.

Set to one side with some reusable cups and a bag of ice so your guests can self serve. To top up simply repeat the process when its qtr full.

...It's coming home!
