A delicious blend of Summer time strawberries and Scottish rum. Inspired by Wimbledon and supporting the great Andy Murray.
Murray is on the march at Wimbledon this year. So let’s get into the mood with a Strawberry Mojito. A refreshing combination of fresh, British strawberries, homegrown mint picked from the garden and Scotland’s finest rum from Ninefolds Distillery.
Serves: 1
Ingredients
37.5ml Ninefolds Rum
12.5ml Chambord
15ml Simple Syrup
2 Ripe Strawberries
Half a Lime, cut into quarters
8-10 Mint Leaves, and a sprig to garnish
Crushed Ice
Dash Soda
Equipment Needed
Muddler
Knife & Board
Bar Spoon
Rolling Pin and Towel (if you don't have crushed ice)
Clear Tiki Totem Pole Glass
To make crushed ice... Grab a clean, less fancy kitchen towel place some cubed ice in the centre, fold in the corners and twist so you get a ball of ice. Then on a hard, secure, non-dentable surface... take a rolling pin to it and go to town. You can also buy crushed ice from large supermarkets.
Method
Cut your strawberries in half and remove the heads. Add them to your tiki glass.
Squeeze then add your four lime quarters and give the contents a good muddle.
Add in your syrup, Ninefolds rum and Chambord.
Take your mint leaves and place them into a loose ball in one hand and give them two hard SLAPS with the other. Then add into the glass.
Fill the glass 3/4 full of crushed ice and place a bar spoon in upside down. Then pump the bar spoon up and down in a slightly circular motion while covering the top of the glass with your other hand to avoid ingredients spilling out of the glass (start slow then speed up until the glass is mixed).
Top the glass up with more crushed ice add finish with a dash of soda.
7. Finally add a half cut strawberry, a sprig of mint that has been lightly slapped in your hand and a straw. Make sure you place the straw next to the mint to deliver more flavour when you drink.
Come on Murray!!!
